This film (set for the most part in London) focuses on the lives of four characters Anna (Julia Roberts), Dan (Jude Law), Alice (Natalie Portman) and Larry (Clive Owen).
Anna is a professional photographer who meets Dan, an obituary journalist whilst photographing him for his new book. Alice, a stripper, meets Larry at one of Anna's exhibitions. At this point Anna is with Larry, and Alice is with Dan, but things get complicated (as to who's with who)later on.
This is an explicit and sometimes disturbing story of love, lust and (mostly) sex. It is at times poignant as all four characters are victims of their respective partners' deceptions and mind games. The most striking performance is given by Clive Owen, whoe nymphomaniac character seems to grow ever more complicated as the film progresses. The dynamic between Alice and Larry (especially in Alice's strip-club) is awesome and leaves you shifting uncomfortably in your seat.
I strongly recommend this film.
