What would happen if our favourite horror film characters Freddie Krugger,
Michael Myers (Halloween) and Jason (Friday 13th) took a break from their hectic
killing spree's, put down their weapons of murder, had a few beers and picked up
musical instruments?
The answer is Lordi.
Lordi is a melodic theatrical heavy-rock band from Finland. They are mostly known for
their unusual monster costumes and lyrical themes.
You're expecting some KILLER METAL festival, right? Guess again. This is Finlands entry
for the Eurovision song contest.
You heard me, Eurovision.
Lordi are a household name in their native Finland with over 50,000 sales and a #1 single
with "Would you love a Monsterman"from their debut album "Get Heavy" released in 2002.
Lordi have re discovered the lost formula for heavy metal mainstream success that made
platinum artists of previous masters of metal such as Twisted Sister, WASP & Iron Maiden.
The monster costumes are such an integral part of Lordi's publicity image that they refuse
to be photographed or even interviewed without them.
This year they have trashed the mainstream Finnish artists in the run up to represent Finland
at Eurovision, scoring 42% of all votes.
So now they're pitting themselves against the other Euro groups with the song 'Hard rock hallelujah'
in the Semi Final 51st Eurovision Song Contest on 18th May.
